Office Signage in Dubai That Makes the Right First Impression

Bab Al Mashriq designs, makes, and installs office signage in Dubai, from the reception logo wall to door signs, wall branding, and directories. We build in our own workshop, handle Dubai Municipality and building approvals, and can install after hours so your team keeps working. 01 — The basics

What is office signage?

Office signage is the full set of signs inside and outside a workplace that carry your brand and help people move around. It covers the reception sign behind the front desk, the name plates on doors, the directory in the lift lobby, the branding on a feature wall, and the safety signs the law requires. Good office branding works as one system, so a visitor sees the same logo, colours, and type from the car park to the meeting room.

The main types of office signs

Here are the main types Dubai businesses ask us for.

Reception and lobby signage

The reception sign is the face of your brand. We build it in acrylic, stainless steel, brushed brass, or 3D letters, with front-lit or halo-lit options for a premium look. Because we cover this in depth on our dedicated reception sign page, this page keeps it short and treats it as one part of the wider office system.

Office door and room signs

Door signs label every room so no one guesses. That means meeting rooms, the pantry, the prayer room, washrooms, and private offices, plus desk and wall name plates for staff. We use slide-in frames where the name changes often, so office door signage stays useful after people move.

Wall branding and feature walls

A branded wall in the reception or boardroom turns a plain surface into part of your identity. We produce raised logos, printed panels, and cut vinyl graphics that fit the interior without looking stuck on.

Glass frosting and manifestation

Frosted glass film adds privacy to meeting rooms and carries your logo at the same time. It also doubles as safety marking on large glass panels and doors, which most fit-outs need so people do not walk into clear glass.

Office directory and wayfinding signs

In larger floors, office directory signs and directional plates guide visitors to the right department. This ties into full wayfinding, which we handle as a separate service for multi-floor buildings.

Health, safety, and statutory signs

Fire exit, evacuation, and capacity signs are required in occupied offices. We make these to the correct standard so your space passes inspection.

02 — First impressions

Why your office reception sign is the first thing clients judge

The purpose of good office signs is to tell visitors they are in the right place and that your business is one to trust, before anyone says a word. A client walking in for a meeting reads the reception sign in the first few seconds. A clean, well-lit sign board says the company is established. A crooked print stuck to the wall says the opposite, no matter how good the work inside is.

There is a practical side too. Clear door and directory signs cut the interruptions to your front desk, help couriers and clients find the right room, and make a new or rebranded office feel finished. For a business moving in or changing its name, office rebrand signage is often the last thing on the list and the first thing people see.

03 — Specification

Materials and finishes

The right material depends on the look you want and where the sign sits. Here is how we usually match them for corporate office signage.

materials for office
Office Signage Materials Table
Material Best for Why
Acrylic Reception logos, door and name plates Clean finish, cost-effective, easy to shape and colour
Stainless steel and brass Premium reception and boardroom signs Solid, high-end look; brushed or mirror finish
Aluminium (powder-coated) Building signage and outdoor office signs Weather-resistant, holds colour in the sun
Solid wood and veneer Boutique and hospitality-style offices Warm, natural feel; routed or engraved
Frosted vinyl film Glass partitions and meeting rooms Adds privacy and branding, works as glass safety marking
Foam and printed panels Wall branding and event backdrops Lightweight, fast to produce, easy to update

For lit signs we offer front-lit letters, halo-lit letters for a soft glow behind the logo, and dual-lit for both. As sign accessories manufacturers, we also make the stand-off fixings, frames, and mounts, so the whole build comes from one workshop and matches.

04 — Conditions

Built for Dubai's buildings and climate

An office fit-out in Dubai runs to a hard opening date, and signage is usually on the critical path near the end. We plan around that. We also design for the way offices here work, with the registered company name in Arabic and English where needed, and layouts that suit towers, free-zone floors, and older buildings alike.

Most of our office work sits in the business districts: reception and directory signs for corporate towers in Business Bay and Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT), fit-out signage in DIFC and Barsha Heights, and building signage across Al Quoz and Deira. Wherever the office is, we match the sign system to the interior and the building’s rules.

Notice Callout - DED Wording

One local detail catches many companies out

Your reception and building sign should show the trade name exactly as it appears on your licence from the Department of Economic Development (DED). A sign that does not match the licence can fail a building or authority check, so we confirm the exact name before we cut anything.

05 — Compliance

Approvals: landlord, Dubai Municipality, and free zones

Interior signs inside your own leased space are usually about function and brand. But several situations need sign-off before you install, and getting this wrong causes most of the delay on a project.

Building and landlord approval

Towers and malls have their own tenant signage guidelines and fit-out rules. Building management often has to approve the design, the fixing method, and the install times before work starts.

Dubai Municipality permits

Any outdoor sign, or a sign visible from a main road, needs approval from Dubai Municipality, whose outdoor advertising rules sit under Municipal Order No. 4/2019.

Free-zone authorities

Offices in DMCC, JAFZA, DIFC, or other free zones follow that authority's own signage rules on top of the city ones, so the approval path is different from a mainland office.

Lit and safety signs

Lit signs can need electrical sign-off, and fire and evacuation signage must meet Dubai Civil Defence codes.

We prepare and submit these approvals for you as part of the job. Because rules and code references change, confirm the current requirement with the relevant authority before production.

06 — Budget

How much does office signage cost in Dubai?

The cost depends on the material, the size, whether the sign is lit, and how many pieces you need. Small items like name plates start low, while a lit reception sign board or a full-floor rollout costs more. As a guide, here are typical market rates, priced by square foot for larger signs.

Dark Pricing Table - Sign Types
Sign type Indicative rate
Vinyl and printed graphics AED 30 to 90 per sq ft
Acrylic flat letters (non-lit) AED 150 to 400 per sq ft
Light box signage AED 250 to 600 per sq ft
3D front-lit LED letters AED 300 to 800 per sq ft
Backlit / halo-lit letters AED 400 to 900 per sq ft
Acrylic reception sign (per unit) from about AED 150

These are planning ranges, not a quote. Price rises with lit letters, custom metalwork, and high or after-hours installation. The exact figure comes from a site survey, which we do at no cost across Dubai.

07 — Process

Our process, stage by stage

We run every office project through the same steps, so you know what happens and when.

Site survey and consultation

We visit the office, measure, and note the reception, doors, glass, and any signs that need approval.

Design and 3D mockup

We produce artwork and a 3D preview so you see the exact look before we build. This is where materials and finishes are chosen.

Approvals

We prepare landlord, Dubai Municipality, or free-zone submissions as needed.

In-house fabrication

We make the signs in our own workshop and quality-check each piece. Standard items usually take about three to seven working days.

Installation

Our team installs on site, cleanly, and can work after hours to avoid disrupting your staff.

Support and updates

We repair, replace, or add signs as your team and layout change.

Frequently Ask Questions

What is office signage?

It is the full set of signs in a workplace: the reception sign, door and room signs, name plates, wall branding, directories, and required safety signs. Together they carry your brand and help people find their way.

The reception sign is one type, the sign behind the front desk. The office system is everything around it: door and room signs, wall branding, glass frosting, directories, and safety signs. Most offices need both, planned together so they match.

Interior signs in your own leased space usually do not, but building management often must approve the design and install. Any outdoor or road-visible sign needs a Dubai Municipality permit, and free-zone offices follow their authority’s rules. We handle these submissions for you.

Standard items like name plates and acrylic reception signs usually take about three to seven working days after the design is approved. Larger rollouts and signs that need permits take longer, since approvals add time. You get a schedule after the site survey.

It depends on material, size, and lighting. Printed and vinyl signs are cheapest, while lit 3D letters cost most. A simple acrylic reception sign can start around AED 150, and a full-floor rollout runs higher. A site survey gives you an exact number.

Acrylic suits most budgets and gives a clean look. Stainless steel and brass read as more premium. If you want the logo to glow, halo-lit letters work well. We recommend a material after seeing your interior and brand.

Yes. We can install in the evening or on weekends so your staff and visitors are not disrupted, which suits live offices and shared buildings.

Yes. We design both languages together, and we match the company name to your DED trade licence so the sign passes any building or authority check.
