01 — The basics

What is outdoor signage?

Outdoor signage is any sign outside a building: shopfront fascia, 3D letters, pylons, building signs, and illuminated boards. It identifies your business and carries your brand day and night. External signage, the other common name for it, has to survive Dubai’s heat, sun, and wind while staying bright and legible.

02 — First impressions

Why your reception sign is the first thing clients judge

76%

of consumers have entered a store they never visited before based on its signs.

68%

believe a company's signage reflects the quality of its products or services.

Your outdoor sign is the first thing a customer sees, so it decides who walks in. A FedEx Office survey found that 76% of consumers have entered a store they never visited before based on its signs. The same survey found 68% believe a company’s signage reflects the quality of its products or services. A clear, well-lit sign brings people in. A faded or unapproved sign turns them away and risks a fine.

The types of outdoor signs we make

We make every common exterior sign type in-house, from 3D letters to pylons and illuminated boards. Here are the main ones.

3D outdoor letter signs

3D metal letters, or channel letters, give logos a premium, high-impact look. We fabricate them from stainless steel (Grade 304/316), aluminium, and brass, lit or unlit.

Front-lit LED signboards

Front-lit signs light the face of the letters for maximum brightness. We recommend them for roadside visibility, using energy-efficient LEDs.

Backlit outdoor signs

Backlit, or halo-lit, signs cast light behind the letters for a premium glow. They suit high-end shopfronts and corporate branding.

LED neon signage

Modern neon signs use flexible, shatterproof LED neon flex. This runs about 90% more efficiently than glass neon and lasts far longer. We make outdoor neon signs for restaurant signs outdoor, retail, and custom event branding.

Pylon and totem signs

Pylon signs are freestanding roadside signs, often over 10 metres tall, built with internal steel to meet Dubai wind-load standards. Totem signs are shorter entrance markers in aluminium and acrylic. Both suit petrol stations, malls, hotels, and business parks.

Building and rooftop branding signs

Building signs give primary identification on corporate and residential facades. We fabricate large rooftop logos and high-rise lettering in lightweight aluminium and high-lumen LEDs, with full structural engineering and municipal approvals.

ACP cladding signage

ACP cladding uses fire-rated aluminium composite panels for a flat, clean facade. It gives an even surface for mounting logos and 3D letters on shop fronts.

Flex face signboards

Flex face signboards use a weatherproof PVC substrate stretched over a lightbox frame. They are cost-effective for large outdoor store signs and easy to reface with changeable graphics. We also use flex for hoarding, billboard, and street advertising signs.

Shopfront and fascia signs

Shopfront signs, also called storefront signs, are the primary branding tool for retail. This covers the main fascia sign in Alubond or acrylic, window graphics, and entrance signs. We also make outdoor welcome signs and outdoor name signs for entrances.

Wayfinding and directional signs

Exterior wayfinding signs guide people through malls, hospitals, and campuses. We use durable, powder-coated aluminium and reflective 3M vinyl for car park and street directional signs. See our wayfinding page for full systems.

Wall-mounted exterior panels and projecting signs

Wall-mounted panels and projecting blade signs mark entrances and locate businesses on busy streets. We make custom outdoor signs as flat panels or illuminated lightboxes, plus sidewalk signs and A-boards for businesses.

Safety and outdoor exit signs

Safety signs are mandatory for commercial and industrial sites in Dubai. We make ISO 7010-compliant fire exit, hazard, and outdoor exit signs, using photoluminescent materials that stay visible during a power cut.

Digital LED display screens

Digital LED display screens show changeable ads, menus, and messages outdoors. They suit malls, showrooms, and roadside advertising.

03 — Specification

Outdoor sign materials

We make outdoor signs in weatherproof materials like aluminium, stainless steel, acrylic, ACP, and LED neon. Popular picks are outdoor aluminum signs and outdoor acrylic signage. The right one depends on the sign type, location, and look.

04 — Conditions

Built for Dubai's climate and streets

Dubai signs face 45C-plus summers, strong sun, and dust, so we build every outdoor sign to survive them. We use UV-resistant faces, IP67-rated LEDs, and corrosion-proof fixings. Pylons and rooftop signs get full structural and wind-load engineering.

We install across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. Common work includes shopfronts in Deira and Bur Dubai, and pylons in Al Quoz and Dubai Investment Park (DIP). We also fit building signs in Business Bay and on Sheikh Zayed Road. We design signs in Arabic and English, which Dubai shopfront and road signs need.

05 — Compliance

Regulations for outdoor signs in Dubai

Almost every outdoor sign in Dubai needs a permit, and installing without one risks fines and removal. Here is what applies.

Compliance Notes Cards
Dubai Municipality permit. Outdoor and shopfront signs need an advertising permit under Municipal Order No. 4/2019.
RTA approval. Signs visible from a main road, and road or car park signs, need RTA sign-off.
Structural engineering. Large, high-rise, and rooftop signs need calculations from a UAE-licensed engineer.
Fire and electrical. Safety signs follow the UAE Fire Code and ISO 7010; illuminated signs can need DEWA electrical sign-off.
Free zones. Signs in DMCC, JAFZA, or DIFC follow that authority's own rules.

We prepare and submit every permit for you, and we build to 100% compliance. Because fees and rules change, confirm the current requirements with the authority before production.

06 — Budget

How much does outdoor signage cost in Dubai?

Outdoor signage in Dubai costs from about AED 2,000 to over AED 100,000. A small sign sits at the low end; a large pylon or building sign at the top. The price depends on size, material, illumination, and installation access. Here are typical rates for common signs.

Dark Pricing Table - Pylon and Building Signs
Item Indicative rate
Vinyl, flex, and printed graphics AED 30 to 90 per sq ft
Acrylic flat letters (non-lit) AED 150 to 400 per sq ft
Light box and flex face signage AED 250 to 600 per sq ft
3D front-lit LED letters AED 300 to 800 per sq ft
Backlit and halo-lit letters AED 400 to 900 per sq ft
Pylon or full building sign AED 20,000 to 100,000+

Permits carry a separate annual Dubai Municipality fee, often from about AED 500 per square metre. These are planning ranges, not a quote. A site survey gives you an exact figure, and we do it at no cost.

We run every outdoor project through six steps, from site survey to installation.

We measure the facade or plot and check access, power, and sightlines.

Frequently Ask Questions

What is outdoor signage?

It is any sign on the outside of a building: shopfronts, 3D letters, pylons, building signs, and illuminated boards. It identifies your business and pulls in foot traffic.

The purpose is to make your business seen, bring in customers, and carry your brand day and night. Clear outdoor signs also guide people to the right entrance.

External signage is another name for outdoor signage: every sign on the outside of a building or plot. It covers fascias, pylons, building signs, and safety signs.

Outdoor signs need a Dubai Municipality permit under Municipal Order No. 4/2019, plus RTA approval for road-visible signs. Large signs need structural engineering, and safety signs follow the UAE Fire Code.

Examples include shopfront fascia, 3D letters, pylons, totems, building signs, LED neon, flex face boards, and safety signs. Wayfinding and car park signs count too.

Aluminium and stainless steel last longest for letters; ACP is best for facades; acrylic suits illuminated faces. All should resist UV for Dubai sun.

A front-lit fascia sign with 3D letters works best for retail, backed by window graphics. These pull customers in from a busy street.

Illuminated fascia signs and LED neon suit restaurants, giving a warm glow at night. They stand out to evening diners.

Yes. We service, repair, and reface outdoor signs, and keep illuminated signs bright. Our IP67 LEDs last 50,000 or more hours.
